2005 Reunion Pictures
2005 Reunion in New York was all smiles as guests took a bite out
of the
BIG Apple!

After
months of planning and preparation, the New York 2005 Reunion Committee was
ready to welcome our guests for this year's reunion. On Friday July 15, the long
anticipated New York Reunion got off to a great start at the Meet and Greet in
the Anselma Room at Molloy College in Rockville Center. We welcomed guests from
all over the United States and Canada as well as a few International guests
including our guest of honor, this year's Tower Award recipient, Mr. Wilfred
Roberts who is still a resident of Harbour View. A special welcome was also
given to Rev. Leslie Hoo Sang, Rector of St. Boniface Church in Harbour View who
began the events with a blessing for the evening and the entire weekend.
The Meet and Greet, lived up to the expectation of its name, as we dined on
cocktails provided by the hosts. It was interesting to note that friends from
the past came together in love and unison, despite some memory lapses regarding
names. This had been expected since many people present had no interaction for
25 to 30 years. We had all aged gracefully. Of course we could have talked until
daylight but we had more to look forward to in the morning when the families
would come together for the Family Fun Day Picnic.
The Family Fun Day Picnic at Hempstead Lake State Park in West Hempstead got off
to an early start in the Pavilion Area, which was an additional feature to being
in the park. This held our Grand Buffet and DJ. The picnic provided the resource
for some people to return to nostalgia by way of the games and sports
activities. These included the Netball match and Soccer game. The face painting
for the children, for the young and not so young, was as well received, as was
the old-fashioned snowball machine. The grand mix of flavors was only surpassed
by the cool down effect that it provided for the Harbour View kind of day, 90
degrees in the shade. The fantastic turnout for the picnic was only a preview
for the Night Affair/Awards Party.
Still recuperating from the picnic, the turnout seemed to be bigger only because
we were in the enclosed space of Chef Orchid Restaurant at JFK International
Airport. The evening began with the blessings of Rev. Leslie Hoo Sang. The Tower
Award presentation to our guest of honor followed. The award was presented to
the honoree Mr. Wilfred Roberts by
Mrs. Alwyn Dunbar. Immediately following was the dinner and Party Time. The
buffet line and bar was opened until the wee hours of the morning continuously
serviced by waiters and a bar tender. Musical entertainment was by one of New
York's finest Disc Jockeys, DJ Carlton who took us down memory lane,
street dance style. Additional musical entertainment included a live band and a
performance by the Clarendonians that include our own Lincoln Cousins. The
social festivities ended with a Bang.
On Sunday, we
started the day with prayer. A church service was held at St. Boniface Church in
Lindenhurst. Rev. Leslie Hoo Sang was the guest preacher and was well received
by the congregation because of the vibrancy of his sermon. The Parishioners
offered gifts to St. Boniface in Harbour View and Rev. Hoo Sang was presented
with a Souvenir Token of our Appreciation from the committee. He also presented
a Reunion Token at the end of the service to everyone. Following the
service, breakfast was served. The church service was a great way to conclude
our
weekend of activities as the guests prepared for their safe return home.
Another Year,
Another Reunion, Good Vibes, Lots of Fun and Laughter,
the best achievement of all
Unity for the Community
Looking forward to the next one!
One Love!
