Big Up all HV people, the 08 Olympic team and all Jamaicans around the world.
I cannot begin to tell u all how proud of the athletes I am at this time, but we know that "we little but we talawah".
I won't even get into the fact that Merlene would have won a number of gold medals if you know what.
But let them hate, because all that does is increase our love.
And as for Ato Boldon who if memory serves me well was carry on with Maurice Green, but again, let them hate.
The only sad thing about all of our achievements and not just in track and field is the fact that our brothers
back home keep killing each other.
But God will deal with all of that, so for now let us celebrate our team and pray for those experiencing
a hard time with this hurricane season.
God Bless.
Susan my number is still 954 732-8203, and I will b in London 2012, God willing.

Sitting at my desk at work and going over the photo gallery it brought back wonderful memories
of my years spent in Harbour View before immigrating to Canada.
Keep up the good work the articles are also very interesting,
informative and keep you in touch with what is going on within the community.
Thank God that there were no casualties in the collapse of the bridge.

Hello everyone. I did not live in H.V. as long as many of you did.
We need to get together and decide what we are going to do to help the residents of the community.
I went on Jamaicagleaner. COM and looked at the pictures from the devastation from "Gustav"
and several of the pictures had to do with H.V.
We all love to party and I know that many of you have some kind of connections of donations from others.
Maybe we can put together a "H.V. disaster fund party" (only a suggestion).
The people of the wonderful community of H.V. need our help.
A creative and wonderful website was created to keep us together,
now let us try and give back to the community that produced so many wonderful individuals.
Thanks

I realize i'm a bit late but was just directed to this site to see that my absolute favorite teacher,
Ms Mary Bond, was the 2007 Tower Award Winner. I graduated from St. Mark's Basic in 1976,
loved the atmosphere so much, I volunteered during my lunch hour at Harbour View Primary
(when i should be going home for lunch. My younger sibling's (the Hanlans) went to Mary Bond Basic.
I also helped out a few times there while at St. Hugh's.
My own child was not as privileged as we are now in the US but I can hardly contain my excitement
about Ms Bond's recognition. Since i could not find a direct link,
i'm using the forum to add my congrats and hope she get it.
Not only have Ms. Bond inspired me in volunteering with children during my teenage years,
I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and am the proud owner of my own Early Childhood Program.
My family and I love, honor and respect you Ms. Bond. all the best. DiAnne Ford (maiden)

What's up Goosey, truly well said by that writer of that London news paper,
next to us Jamaicans, only the Europeans would see Usain antics as not being "DISRESPECTFUL",
to his fellow athletes and spectators. If I could have reached into my telly,
I would have happily choked Bob Costas and that Trini commentator.
Did you hear them going on about how disrespectful they thought Usain was???
Two words to that "SOUR GRAPES" Oh and did you see that article in the New York Times by that writer,
Jere (Jer-Ray) Longman insinuating that Bolt might be doping?? Goosey I was so fired up by that,
I emailed Mr Longman a nice little bit of my mind, HATERS!!!!
I hope Usain keeps right on hurting every part of them,
wouldn't it be cool if Mr Bolt turned the 400m into his domain as well,
Yes big congrats to JA olympic team.

A most respectful comment on how Usain really felt while winning the 100m at the Olympics.
The Independent, London: "For 9.69 secs this 6' 5" Jamaican phenomenon
had taken off and touched speeds no other human had ever before reached without technological assistance.
He had done so while shutting down the engines some 20 metres from the line,
glancing to his right (presumably,
in the ill-founded notion that someone might be within his air space),
then dropping both arms to his side, as if to say to his mother sitting up in the stands 'Hey mum, get me'.
Not in the preening, arrogant manner of so many American speed merchants,
but in the fashion of a 21-year-old free-flying, free spirit who is busy redefining the term 'Cool Runnings'."

Kitch apology accepted but I WAS NOT REFERENCING MY COMMENT TO YOU
I’m so tired of hearing people THINKING ABOUT COMPARING Lenny "Teacher' HYDE C.C.
team to the greatest school boy team ever KINGSTON COLLEGE. I have not seeing the past Manning Cup Teams or DaCosta Cup Teams
but after talking to many players of the past they comment to me is K.C. 64 & 65 TEAM is the greatest of all time
and none of them did not attend K.C. and these are men who went to S.T.G.C. J.C. CALABAR, WOLMERS, and Allie McNabb of CORNWALL COLLEGE.
Now JUBBA just let me enlighten you on some facts Teacher C.C. team only won DaCosta cup out right
they share Oliver Shield with Camperdown they lost to Vere Tech at C.C. but turn the tables on them at Vere
not an excuse but Jubby Jones Vere goal keeper got sick at half time and had to be replaced that lost cost them to loose the zone
it was a must win situation for them it also end they rein as champions. Kitch you mention the Trinidad H.S. team
that came in 1965 K.C .mowed them down 2-0 at the national stadium it took GEORGE PENNA world cup team to stop K.C. THAT YEAR.

Shanny, you’re out of hibernation? Thanks for the correction my apologies SIR.
I shared the said sentiments with the ‘64 & ‘65 KC teams as well as the Vere ‘66 squad.
I should know better because re that Clarendon squad, 1.) If you point me to Clarendon’s direction I still would not find it,
much less the school. 2.) I never saw team, 3.) It was told to me by (and here is the big disappointment)
another KC man who answers to the name Juba Giscombe. Now with your info
I have more ammo to reload & revisit this conversation with him……
Now this is where I need a slap on the head with some smelling salt to go along with it.
I was struggling to name KC Manning Cup HV players under “George T.” (not the 2nd Elevens,
there are a few of those to remain nameless) and one who was hiding in plain site was none other than “Stumpy” aka “Fed”.
He played on the ’67 squad the last year/team I saw before leaving Yard, so I don’t know the exploits of teams/names you mentioned;
I just have to accept an “expert” opinion…… Adding more trivia; to me it’s hard to say that Lloydie Mac,
a superb link (brother to Alvin & son of a previous KC coach before George T. Clovis McLean RIP,
uncles Bunny Mc & Alvin Mc & Clovis played for the same Ja teams in the ‘50s) had a more pivotal role
than the other starters as you know they all did a stellar job (I couldn’t detect a weakness)
losing only to the Brazilian team in 65 which they (KC) played the best of any of teams they (Brazil) faced on their tour...
Now in ’66, the Vere team with McCam (Lloydie Walker) & Popeye (Skill Cole) took over, the 2nd best team to me. That year,
Chungie (Winston Chung Fah, Santos Coach an EHV resident) brought an all-star HS team from Trinidad
(they did almost what the Brazilians did the year before) mowed down almost all challenges.
Three on that team Everald Cummings (’90’s Soca Boyz coach), Warren Archibald & Steve David
arguably the best trio from the WI in that era (you can add Alan and possibly Guy St. Vil from Haiti to make 5),
went on to play Pro in States.

Kitch, I’m embarrass and disappointed with you to class (Teacher) Clarendon team with K.C. 64 & 65
MISTER WORLD CUP LLOYD McLEAN as the best school team, remember they were unbeaten both years it took BRAZIL U21
to beat them TRIPLE CHAMPIONS both years. Now what about VERE TECHNICAL 65 WITH ALLAN (SKILL) COLE,
what about WOLMERS 91 TRIPLE CHAMPIONS with KEITH (BARNABY) TULLOCH & RICHARD (REAL KILL) DAVEY.
Me and Allan Cole were having a conversation one time and out of the clear blue sky he start to tell me his best game
he played as a school boy and it was against CORNWALL COLLEGE in the DACOSTA CUP FINAL
then he said BISHOP GIBSON was there to congratulate him after the game for his performance
as you know it was the Bishop who had him expelled from K.C.
and he turn to me and said the greatest school boy side his K.C. 64 & 65
and GEORGE (MISTER "T") THOMPSON is the best.
BALANCE SAID IT ALL.

Conrad,
Well said from a player’s experience, I can add you to the small list of HV residents
I was struggling with in my earlier comments below. Not that this is important,
call it curiosity and chances are,
I won’t know the names (I left the View in the ’60) but it would be informative to know a list/numbers of HV residents
who played under “George T.” at the college. A player missed in my numbers,
ironically I was more familiar with him here (Brooklyn) through football
and not in HV (he was a toddler and could barley leave his gates) was Paul Robinson (RIP).

On this journey of life, there are so many different paths that we travel. We stop only to start again.
And with each stop we re-fuel. Starting with a new enthusiasm and vigor, to take on all the challenges the world have to offer.
One of my stop was at Kingston College (KC), where I was fortunate to meet Mr. George "George T" Thompson.
I met "George T" because of a common bond we shares, "FOOTBALL" (Soccer). And what a "MAN" he was.
His demeanor was somewhat reserve, but stern and solid were his orders and instructions.
He possessed qualities to understand the plight of the Jamaican Youths.
And with relentless perseverance, he at times succeed in shaping you into the man he thinks you should be. "George T" was Royal.
He was a King. So while I bade you good-bye Mr. T, with teary eyes and a smile on my face I "Thank You".
"All men with honor are Kings. But not all kings have honor. Honor is what no-one can give to you or no-one can take away from you.
Honor is what a man give to himself". And "Mr. T"! you surely lived your life in that manner..
"Mullings, come here, let me tell you something. It's best to tell someone sorry, than someone tells you sorry. In other words.
It's better to visit someone in the hospital. Than have someone visit you in the hospital".
Words of "Mr. T" .A rule of thumb by which I played. what is so wonderful, is that there are thousands of players and former players
who can attest to some rule of thumb that was taught by "Mr. T".
"Mr. T" you will be missed.

George T., the greatest Ja High School football coach ever. Sorry folks I’m very partial to that fact.
I was there as a schoolboy and fan (except when Dougs, Headmaster or Deputy Crique was looking for me)
in his (‘60s) tenure to witness his stewardship with the best HS squads 64 & 65 KC teams.
Trust me people I was never more proud to make sure I had my purple & white on in those magical times.
I have heard people say that the “Teacher’s” Clarendon team is the best ever but I was not there to witness that.
The feats accomplished over those 2 HS undefeated seasons is hard to argue about….
HV representative on those teams was ”Pato” Kirkwood,
they were a few other on later teams to include Billy Perkins, DV and the Webmaster that I can name.
So thank you Mr. Thompson for that chapter, long gone but will NEVER be forgotten…
Selah
